Entering my 40s became a major time of reflection – on what was, what could have been, and what I’m thankful is no longer.
In my 40s, I can no longer…
- walk long distances in 4-inch heels
- bounce back from hangovers in less than 24 hours
- eat what I want without repercussion
- sleep until 1 p.m.
- drink liquids past 8 p.m.
- sleep through the night
But I can now…
- stop obsessing over how I look
- throw away the guilt and shame of past bad decisions
- purchase luxuries without robbing Peter to pay Paul
- ignore others’ opinions
- put my needs first
- be happy with who I am, where I’ve been and where I’m about to go
